In certain situations, it may be desirable to enclose your barcode scan module even if it is embedded within your machine. While embedding your barcode scan module into your machine may provide a base level of protection, sometimes it can be necessary or even a requirement to protect the barcode scan module from what goes on INSIDE the machine.

Liquid handling machines
Many machines utilize open liquids in their applications. Open liquids can be present in sample verification, liquid level analysis, or contaminant detection applications. To protect the barcoding unit from spills when moving liquids may be nearby an enclosed barcode scan module is recommended.
Dust protection
Mounting a barcode scan module in areas that are highly prone to dust or material shavings may result in the need for periodic cleaning in order to maintain operation. Enclosures provide protection and provide for easier cleaning.
